Hydrafacial Keravive Scalp Treatment: A Facial for Your Scalp
For most of us, beauty treatments end at the hairline. We don’t think about scalp health unless there's a pressing skin concern. But even without dry, flaky skin, treatments in this area may contribute to the health and appearance of your hair.
Hyrdafacial is one of the most innovative methods for skin rejuvenation, and they don’t stop at the body. With a new tip explicitly designed for this application, the Hydrafacial Keravive is a level up from a traditional scalp massage.
Today, we’re looking at this approach to promoting healthy skin on the scalp. So, let’s get to the root of the issue!
What is a Hydrafacial Keravive scalp treatment?
Much like the traditional Hydrafacial, Keravive uses a similar approach to clear out congested pores. The same device is used to apply Vortex Fusion Technology to the scalp. It first cleanses and exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells.
Then, it extracts impurities from the pores using the specialized tip for use on the scalp. At the same time, it infuses a growth factor to promote thicker, healthier hair.
Finally, a cocktail of peptides is infused into the skin to provide healthy hydration to the area. Your esthetician applies this serum with a 30-second scalp massage. And, you’ll get a bottle to take home.
You’ll use it once a day between treatments for the best results.
The benefits of Hydrafacial Keravive
Aside from promoting healthier skin, the Hydrafacial Keravive protocol has other health benefits. It increases circulation to the scalp, stimulates hair follicles, and leaves you with thicker, fuller-looking hair.
It can also help reduce dryness and flaky skin and calm inflammation. And it’s even safe for you if you’ve got hair extensions!
Does Keravive help promote hair growth?
Keravive doesn’t claim to regrow hair, but it creates a healthier environment for growth. Hair loss from genetic or hormonal factors isn’t affected by the treatment. But for those without genetic or hormonal concerns, a clean and hydrated scalp grows thicker, healthier keratin strands.
Buildup from hair products, sebum, and other debris can harm your hair as it grows, making it thin and brittle. This process infuses peptides that improve follicle health and combat thinning hair.
The process of a Hydrafacial Keravive treatment
One of the biggest benefits of the Hydrafacial treatment process is that it’s non-invasive and doesn’t involve a recovery period. For the scalp, the protocol has many of the same benefits. Most of the time, you’ll spend around half an hour in your esthetician’s chair for a Hydrafacial Keravive treatment.
It’s quick, painless, and leaves you feeling refreshed!
How to prepare for Keravive
Most estheticians will ask you to come in with hair that’s clean, dry, and free from products. You can wash your hair the day before your session, but it’s not necessary on the day of.
The process of Hydrafacial Keravive
Like a face or body treatment, Hydrafacial Keravive follows a three step process. Your practitioner will use a small wand to work through the process on your scalp.
First, they’ll cleanse and exfoliate the skin. If you have long hair, they’ll use clips to expose different parts of the scalp. During this step, the vortex technology extracts dirt, oils, dead skin cells, and impurities from the skin.
Then, they use a special tip to deliver a proprietary peptide treatment to hydrate and nourish the follicles and skin. Then, they’ll massage a peptide complex serum into your scalp. This application promotes healthy hair growth and prolongs the effects of the treatment.
Aftercare and ongoing scalp care
When you leave your treatment, you’ll take a bottle of the peptide serum home with you. You’ll apply it to your scalp once a day for the next three weeks.
Directly after your treatment, you should let your hair dry naturally. Wait six to twelve hours before washing your hair to allow the treatment to settle in. Using the serum once a day prolongs the benefits of your session by promoting cell turnover and hydration.
